I’m leaving for a short trip to San Francisco tonight for — gasp — pleasure! Rachel’s will be in Bozeman for wedding planning and family time, and I’ve owed Matt a visit for a long time. I also have a handful of other friends (Audrey/Griffin, Shanan) Question is, what should I do? I get in late tonight (Thursday) and leave early Sunday afternoon.
I wanted to go to the Exploratorium1, but they’re closed while they move in to their new place.
The Bay Model Visitor Center2 also looks interesting.
I’ll be based out of the Haight neighborhood, what’s a nerd to do on vacation in San Fran?
Also, what’s the best way to get around? I have a free car rental I could use, but will parking be disastrous?

You have to visit the Ghirardeli chocolate factory and In ‘N’ Out burger on Fisherman’s Warf! 🙂 And do the rental car just so you can drive Lombard Street but the cable car system is amazing.
Must ride the trolleys, check out Ghirardelli cholocate factory, and if you have the chance Alcatraz Island does tours.
Fisherman’s Warf’s a great place to enjoy good food nd fun! Ride the cable car too, a nice time!
Eat. And go to the Academy of Sciences (Thursday night is adult nightlife)
Go to Zazie’s for breakfast/brunch, it should be right by you, near UCSF
I’ve always wanted to go to the Rodin museum!

I’ll second the Legion of Honor (it’s really close to Haight-Asbury and they have some excellent exhibitions). Golden Gate Park is pretty rad too. If you have the means of transport, get out to Palo Alto and see a classic film at the Stanford Theater (http://www.stanfordtheatre.org/).
You’re coming to town! For transportation geek out with everything such as: Sidecar, Lyft, Uber (including UberX), getaround, relayrides. I wish scoot networks was available for visitors?
See you soon buddy!
It’s a shame you can’t do the Exploratorium. You would LOVE it! Hands down my favorite elementary school field trip.
