Sending large files to someone can be hard. If the person I’m trying to send the files to is on the same network as I am, I usually just use AIM. If they’re not, I’ll upload the file to my server for them to download.
But what if you don’t have a server?
File uploading businesses are pretty much a dime a dozen, but MediaFire caught my eye with an easy to use upload form that has no size restrictions or mandatory user registration.

This issue can also be solved by creating closed P2P networks with programs like Waste, and only sharing access with your known, trusted friends.
This is true, however I was mostly targeting people with little computer knowledge.
I am curious how they make money on that. Advertisements, I suppose.
Yes. There’s an intermediary step to get your download. You go to the link provided (e.g. http://www.mediafire.com/?3ndrwnzytng), that sends you to a page with an ad and the real download link.
