Maybe It Is Strep?

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 17 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

Since Wednesday evening, I’ve suffered through a myriad of symptoms. But since Friday, I’ve consistently had:

  • Headache
  • Sore throat, including discomfort in talking and swallowing
  • Fever (in excess of 101° F at times)
  • Dry, non productive cough from the stomach region (vs. the upper chest region)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Slightly swollen and slightly tender lymph nodes in my neck
  • Some mucus drainage

Compare that list to common symptoms of strep throat from WebMD:

  • sudden, severe sore throat – (check)
  • pain or difficulty swallowing – (check)
  • fever over 101 °F(38.3 °C) – (check)
  • swollen tonsils and lymph nodes – (possibly)
  • white or yellow spots on the back of a bright red throat – (unknown)
  • headache – (check)
  • abdominal pain – (no)
  • red skin rash – (no)
  • vomiting – (feeling to vomit on Wednesday night, since then: no)
  • loss of appetite – (check)

I’m going to head back to the Health Center first thing tomorrow morning. If it is strep, it’s actually a good thing because they can treat with antibiotics and I’ll get better much quicker.
