Cryptography: Part I

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 17 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

I enjoying a good puzzle now and then. Quinn sent me this a few weeks back:

rl yeq fbc kjbh oprm yeq pbsj mexsjh opj gpbbxj

I worked on it for some time, but was never able to get an answer, so I asked for the answer and the key. Turns out it wasn’t actually an encrypted message, it was a hash. Difference being that given an encrypted message and the key, you can reproduce the original data. A hash is one-way function that if given an encrypted and even a “key”, you can not actually produce the original results without significant guesswork. Can you decode Quinn’s hash?
