Out of Left Field: Part IV

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 18 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

So here’s my theory:

Dad’s last day is Tuesday. He’s already told me that he’s going to take some time off, but not how much. Brian has a year and 5 months left of high school (which is just scary).

Dad takes a year or so off, enjoying some time off. Hanging out with me and Brian before we get too much older. In about a year, Dad will start looking for what he wants to do next, this could take some time, so I wouldn’t expect him to be back in a job for a least 6 months after he starts looking again. By this time, Brian will be done with high school (yikes) and will have heard back from all the colleges he applied to. He should pick one shortly after that and then enjoy the rest of the summer before heading to Mines, I mean whatever college he picks.

Within a year after Dad starts looking for a job, he will have found something based on Colorado. The house will go up on the market and will close 3 to 12 weeks later. Since Brian and I are out of the house, Mom and Dad can get something much smaller in Colorado (cheaper market too). Packing up will take quite a few week and will probably require my help. Perhaps a summer-time move (2008)?

But again, this is all just speculation with absolutely no basis.
