Pet Peeves

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 17 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

One of my biggest pet peeves is not using even remotely proper English. For example:

“How r u?”

Bugs the crap out of me, spend the extra 0.7 seconds and type the entire thing:

“How are you?”

You don’t even have to capitalize it:

“how are you?”

..just fine. Exceptions to this rule are “words” such as ‘brb’, ‘lol’, ‘rofl’, ‘imho’, etc. that are specific to the Internet community.

I do have some sympathy for the “young ones”, so I won’t bitch them out and I typically won’t bitch out my peers (but they already know that I don’t like that kind of short hand), but the older folk…well. I’ll just send them my response in leet speak (the ulitmate form of Internet speach):

“How r u?”

“1 4m 600d. H0w 4r3 y0u? rofl, rofl, rfol, lmao, lol!”

You get the point (or you soon will).
