Things That Go Boom in The Night

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 17 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

4th of July was good. Tonight was better. After crafting and detonating a sparkler bomb last night, I advised Brian on how to craft a better bomb. I call it the Ferguson Prototype I. We took the powder off the sparkler stick (usually some form of potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur or ammonium perchlorate, iron/steel powder, and aluminium/magnesium powder) and put it into a plastic baggie. I fashioned a modified fuse out of a pen and a line of fuse cord. We wrapped the whole thing up in electrical tape into roughly the shape of a ball. Then we set it off. BANG. Perhaps the loudest sound I have ever heard. Enjoy the pictures (video coming soon!).
