Donating Blood at Puget Sound Blood Center

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 17 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

I scheduled an appointment at the PSBC to give blood again. I was some how also able to drag my dad along. Everything was pretty much the same as last time, although a lot less busy. Based on what happened the last time I gave blood, I had some more sugars before I donated. Toward the end, I could feel my body getting more stressed and shortly after I had topped of the bag (but the needle was still in), I began to feel hot. So I calmly alerted the nurses that I wasn’t feeling so well. They rushed around a little, got the needle out, gave me some ice packs. Pretty much the same symptoms as last time, but less severe and occurring sooner. For next time, they advised that I alert them to what has happened in the past so they can give me ice packs before I begin the donation. I think I’m also going to try listening to some music.
