A Call to Dr. James Francis in Nigeria

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 18 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

Just got off the phone with “Dr. Francis.” It’s around 4 am in the morning there, so I think I woke him up. Oooh…wow. I just had a great idea. I have about 10 hours of Skype left to use. I should write a program to call him every hour. If each call were to last, say, 20 seconds. That would give me 1800 calls, or enough to call him for 75 straight days. At about 10 Euros for 10 hours, this could honestly be some of the best money I will ever spend! Ok…I’ll have to put some serious thought into that.

I digress. I called him up. I was sort of hard to hear what he was saying through his accent and 4am groginess, but I managed to convey that I will by stopping by Western Union tomorrow. Of course I won’t…or maybe I will and I’ll just send him a penny or something. Anyways. I plan on doctoring some of my own photos, level the playing field so to speak. I did get the conversation on tape though, well hard drive really. I used my iTalk on my iPod to record it. About 2/3 the way through, I had trouble hearing him, so I pluged my headphones in and put one in my ear and the other next to the mic. It actually worked pretty well and you can hear both sides of the conversation.
