Today is the longest day I have. I’m at school from 8am to 5pm with an hour break for lunch. It’s like have a full time job. Anyways, we had a chem lab today. We have to wear pants, which I neglected to wear, so I had to bike all the way back to my apartment to grab them…and then all the way back. The lab was cool though. We did titrations with HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) and NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide). Titration is “[a]n analytical process in which a standard solution in a calibrated vessel is added to a measured volume of sample until an endpoint, such as a color change, is reached. From the volume of the sample and the volume of standard solution used, the concentration of a specific material may be calculated.” (Source: www.systemsaver.com/website/glossary/glossary.html) I did some calculations bases on the molarity of the HCl and figure out how much NaOH we needed to add and, to my astonishment, my calculations were dead on. How awesome.
