It would be kind of interesting to see what exactly was happening in DS9 while it overlapped with TNG and the same thing with Voyager overlapping with DS9, but I agree that's it more trouble than it's worth. There are certain seasons of crossover shows like Buffy/Angel and Hercules/Xena where there are a lot of stories that actually influence both shows together, but there isn't much of this in Star Trek. The Dominion War doesn't have any bearing on Voyager since it's stranded in the Delta Quadrant, and the couple of times TNG uses someone from DS9, it's self contained and no one comments on it back in DS9. In fact, the only real crossover between shows worth paying attention to is which series spins another one off-- McCoy is in "Farpoint," Sisko is briefed by Picard in "Emissary," and Voyager takes off from DS9 in "Caretaker."

@Capt Logan:
I debated the linearity issue, I basically decided to watch each series separately and in its entirety (including movies) before going on to the next series. Otherwise, I would have been quite a bit of time researching stardates to figure out when episodes overlapped. And then what do I do with "Trials and Tribble-ations"? Later TNG movies would take place after some DS9 and Voyager episodes and, well, then it all gets confusing.

Actually, the newer box sets of TOS have as many episodes per disc as the others. You must have been renting the old discs before they finally got wise and released it by season. I've seen every episode of every series at least once (with a few exceptions in the early seasons of DS9) but I think it would be interesting to go back and do what you're doing but start with Enterprise instead of TOS.
