Performancing Metrics No More
With the recent acquisition of Performancing by PayPerPost, I’m removing their code from my site. I think TDavid puts it best:
I’m not crazy about the performancing deal, which doesn’t include the ad network or Firefox add-on, but that’s life when you join a site that someday could be acquired by a different entity. Nick Wilson is calling this “good news” which I guess proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Besides, between the raw data collected by Apache and processed through Analog, AWStats, and Webalizer. Plus Google Analytics, it’s not like I needed yet another metrics meter anyway.
I also sent an email to them requesting that my account and data be removed:
To Whom It May Concern:
In light of Performancing’s recent acquisition by PayPerPost, I would like to request that my account be terminated immediately and all associated data be removed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Check that, I still feel like my membership at Performancing is available to the highest bidder. I suppose in a sense any site we give our attention to is that way that doesn’t provide an escape clause. Too few community sites allow you to disassociate on the site. It’s kind of like sites that make it really easy to pay them and more difficult to leave (cough, cough AOL). [...]
