Update II: Help Pick Photos

24 Sep 2006 @23:16

Yay! All my photos were selected for display!

Now I need to figure out what size to print them as and what frames to buy. Any suggestions?

All the photos are a 1:1.5 ratio. I’ve found some inexpensive frames at Target that are for 4″x6″, but I can safely print up to 6 2/3″ x 10″ without compromising the image quality. And while It would be cool to print at that size, I can’t find any frames! I suppose I might be able to get them framed at a local shop, but that costs money.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

Congrats sir! I say find some cheap frames near the larger size, and make some artistic cropping.

Yes, I do want to mat them. Does your dad have any suggestions on where to get frames?

Matt:
So here’s the issue with the larger sizes: for whatever reason, frames come in 4×6, 5×7, and 8×10. The ratio’s being 1:1.5, 1:1.4, and 1:1.25, respectively. In theory, I could get a 8×10 frame, blow up my photo to 8×12 and then crop an inch off the left and right. But then I’ve surpassed my maximum resolution.

Framing at 5×7 means printing at 5×7.5. This is better then printing at 8×12 because I’ll still be within my maximum printing resolution. I also only have to trim off a quarter inch off each side. This seems like the easiest and cheapest way to go.

I believe he gets most of his frames at Aaron Brothers Framing. Every once and awhile they have a really good sale. The only one I know of is the one in Highlands Ranch although I imagine there is on around here somewhere.
